Foothill Quilters Guild Scholarship – Undetermined amount –
Open to seniors majoring in the field of human environmental sciences. Based on essay, g.p.a., letters of recommendation, activities, etc. Deadline postmarked by April 1, 2001.College Bound Student of the Year - $1,000 – Transcript, essay and interview. Deadline must be received by May 15, 2001.
Sierra Foothills Iris Society - $500 – Open to seniors planning to study horticulture or related fields. Based on transcript, letters of recommendation. Deadline postmarked by April 1, 2001.
Will to Win – $1,000 - $10,000 – Open to athletes with asthma. Essay, transcript, letters of recommendation, etc. Deadline postmarked by April 30, 2001.
Japanese American Citizens League - $350 - $600 – Open to members of the Japanese American Citizens League or their dependents. Based on leadership, self-improvement, extra curricular activities, scholarship. Deadline must arrive by April 13, 2001.
Gordon Stafford Scholarship in Architecture - $1,000 Open to minority students pursuing an architecture degree. Essay, transcript, proof of minority status. Deadline must arrive by June 8, 2001.
California Department of Veterans – full tuition at a state school – Open to dependents of veterans who suffered a disability as a result of military service. Deadline is soon.
Tim Coffin memorial Scholarship - $400 Open to active participants in the Placer County Peer Court program. Deadline must be received by April 23, 2001.
American Legion Auxiliary Scholarships – Various amounts and criteria. Check them all out at www.calegionaux.org/scholarships2001.html Deadlines vary.
Mayor Joe Serna, Jr. Scholarship – Amount undetermined – Must be majoring in studies leading to a degree in business, computer science, engineering, health services or program leading to a professional career. If selected, you MUST attend a reception May 18, 2001. Cultural background, community involvement, letters of recommendation, transcript. Sponsored by the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Deadline must be received by April 6, 2001.
Sacramento PC Users Group - $250 – Letters of recommendation, essay. Enrollment in a specific computer-related field is NOT required. Deadline postmarked by April 6, 2001.
Western Career College School of Health Professions – Awards ranging from $250 - $7500. Good only at Western Career College. Open to those planning a career in health care. Based on transcript, essay and recommendations. Deadline June 15, 2001.
Siemens Westinghouse Science and Technology Competition – $100,000 - $6,000 per team. Development and demonstration of science research project. Complete instructions are available at www.siemens-foundation.org Deadline must be received by October 2, 2001.
Placer Credit Union - $500 – Open to members (or children of members) of Placer Credit Union. Minimum g.p.a. 2.0. Deadline received by 5 p.m. April 13, 2001.
Portuguese Historical and Cultural Society Scholarship - $2000 - $500 – Open to students of Portuguese descent. Based on g.p.a., letter of recommendation, essay. Deadline postmarked by May 1, 2001.
CAA (California Alarm Association) Scholarship – Awards range from $500 - $6,500 – Open to dependents of full time law enforcement or fire department members. Based on essay, SAT scores, g.p.a. etc. Deadline postmarked by April 2, 2001.
Beale AFB Spouse’s Club Scholarship - $ Undetermined – Open only to dependents of active duty military member assigned to Beale AFB, or dependents of retired AF military member residing in Placer County, or a dependent of a deceased AF military member. You do not have to be living with the military member to qualify. Based on personal profile, extra curricular activities, community activities, employment, hobbies, personal statement, letters of recommendation, g.p.a. et al. Deadline postmarked by April 2, 2001.

Deadlines, criteria, etc. should be verified on the application and not from this list.Unless otherwise stated, scholarships on this list are offered only to seniors. Check the criteria carefully before applying if you are not a senior, planning to enroll in college in the fall of 2001.
